Your employment conditions may be valid only until the official Swiss retirement age (Ruhestand, retraite), which is 64 for women and 65 for men. If you wish to continue working after you’ve reached retirement age, you may be required to negotiate a new employment contract.

Company Pension Fund

Membership of a company pension fund (Berufliche Vorsorge/BVG, prevoyance professionellel/LPP) is compulsory for all employees over the age of 17 earning over CHF 24,570 (2014) a year The amount you pay varies from around 7 to 18 per cent of your gross monthly salary, depending on your age and your employer’s pension fund.
