TRINITY COLLEGE LONDON
Trinity College London Summer School: the speaking classroom.
Join Trinity College London Italy for our upcoming Summer School dedicated to developing effective speaking skills in the English language classroom. The course will take place 26–28 August 2026 in Brescia (Italy) and includes 25 hours of in-person training.
Designed for English teachers, the programme focuses on building students’ confidence and communicative competence through engaging, learner-centred activities. Over 3 days, participants will explore practical strategies to promote meaningful interaction, improve fluency and create supportive speaking environments.
The course combines theory with hands-on activities, offering ready-to-use ideas that can be immediately applied in the classroom. It also introduces approaches such as drama techniques and personalised storytelling to develop spoken communication.
Led by experienced Trinity trainers, the Summer School provides valuable opportunities for professional exchange and collaboration with fellow educators, helping teachers start the new school year with fresh ideas and renewed confidence.
From classroom to career: Building employability skills that last
In today’s rapidly changing world of work, employability skills such as communication, collaboration, adaptability and confidence are increasingly recognized as essential for long-term career success. Employers consistently highlight the importance of these transferable life skills, yet many young people report feeling underprepared and anxious as they move from education into employment. Bridging this gap requires learning experiences that go beyond academic knowledge and offer authentic opportunities to practise real-world skills.
Recent research from Trinity College London highlights the powerful role that performance and creative education can play in developing these capabilities. Through disciplines such as music, drama and dance, learners gain sustained practice in teamwork, problem-solving, presenting ideas and responding to feedback. These skills are difficult to replace through automation and are central to success in both work and life. Evidence shows that students with experience in performance-based learning demonstrate higher confidence and lower workplace anxiety, while teachers strongly value its impact on resilience and communication.

TOEFL iBT enhancements: Research-driven, authentic and fair.
The updated TOEFL iBT builds on more than 60 years of leadership in language assessment and is grounded in one of the most robust research foundations in the field. Every task, rubric and score is validated through decades of psychometric research and large-scale global field testing, ensuring results teachers can trust.
TOEFL iBT now measures how students truly use English in academic life.
A hybrid construct approach assesses core language foundations grammar, syntax, pronunciation and real communicative ability. Tasks such as participating in an interview, writing an email and reading daily-life passages reflect authentic academic and everyday communication, all grounded in second-language acquisition research.
Fairness and reliability remain central.
The multistage adaptive design precisely measures each learner’s level, while rigorous equating ensures scores are globally consistent across test forms, locations and delivery modes. The result is a TOEFL iBT score that accurately, reliably and fairly represents students’ academic English ability—anywhere in the world.

Pearson
Creative students are worth gold in a world of AI.
Courses that develop English and essential human skills
Nurturing human skills – especially creativity, matters more than ever. AI can be extremely helpful in learning, but there is still much that only humans can do: think critically, feel deeply, collaborate effectively, create meaningfully and grow in unique ways.
English lessons offer a great opportunity for students to strengthen their creative muscles. With the help of Pearson solutions, this becomes both natural and effective.
How is it done in our courses?
- Through projects – students work together to create presentations, videos or podcasts in English, boosting both creativity and communication skills.
- Through role-play activities – students practise speaking in a playful and creative context.
- Through writing tasks – such as short stories, business presentations, poems or blogs in English, encouraging imagination and language development.
And there are much more than these three examples. Request free sample copies to evaluate yourself.
Why is it important not to overlook human skills?
- Students develop out-of-the-box thinking
- They learn in ways that suit them best
- They learn how to create something new and unique
