Open Positions

VOLUNTEER!

As a non-profit association, ETAS is extremely grateful for the work, cheer and enthusiasm of our generous volunteers. Do you have some time and expertise you can offer ETAS? There are many different ways to get involved and many different levels of commitment, from being a local ambassador, to Journal proofreader, event support staff, website editor or Executive Committee member. Volunteering for ETAS not only deepens your teaching network in Switzerland and abroad, it also teaches you new skills that may not be part of the classroom teaching experience: project management, working in teams, marketing, digital skills and more. Plus, contributing ETAS volunteers will receive a significant discount on admission to our National Events – currently they will save more than CHF 100.- on the normal member price!

Publications team

On the Publications team, we are looking for a Copyediting Team Leader. If you love working with texts and interacting with like-minded people, and if you would like to hone your copyediting and proofreading skills, read the job description and see if this role may suit you.

The successful candidate will become a member of the National Council and have reduced rates at events, as well as interact with a dynamic team. You will have the full support of the Editor, Deputy Editor and Publications Chair to take up the roles.

Please send your application to Carol Waites, the Publications Chair, at carol.waites@e-tas.ch. Tell me why you are interested and what experience you already have.

Ambassadors

We are also currently looking for ambassadors.

ETAS Ambassador is a new role that is the evolution of Regional Coordinators and SIG (Special Interest Group) Coordinators. ETAS Ambassadors can represent a city/canton or a particular area of interest. For example, our Bern, Zurich, Lausanne, Valais, and Ticino Ambassadors. Some organize discussion or social-professional activities in their areas. Others do this online. Our SIG Ambassadors often offer online workshops or present at national events. Others write newsletters and journal articles that keep interested members informed about their domain of expertise.

Would you like to create a local group in your area? Do you want to share your expertise in a subject with the rest of us? There’s no limit on the number of Ambassadors that ETAS can have, so if you have something to share, please get in touch with our National Coordinator at national.coordinator@e-tas.ch to get all the details.

Do you have other skills or ideas?

We are always looking for members who want to help English Language Teaching professionals in Switzerland connect, grow and thrive! Here are some things you might want to think about. For example, do you:

  • Enjoy organizing events and meeting new people? – Think about becoming an ETAS Ambassador. Contact our National Coordinator at national.coordinator@e-tas.ch
