Open Positions

VOLUNTEER!

As a non-profit association, ETAS is extremely grateful for the work, cheer and enthusiasm of our generous volunteers. Do you have some time and expertise you can offer ETAS? There are many different ways to get involved and many different levels of commitment, from being a local ambassador, to Journal proofreader, event support staff, website editor or Executive Committee member. Volunteering for ETAS not only deepens your teaching network in Switzerland and abroad, it also teaches you new skills that may not be part of the classroom teaching experience: project management, working in teams, marketing, digital skills and more. Plus, contributing ETAS volunteers will receive a significant discount on admission to our National Events – currently they will save more than CHF 100.- on the normal member price!

Executive Committee

We are currently looking for a president for our association. To nominate someone as President, we ask that you download the form below and return it to our administrator at the email address on the form no later than 8 May 2024.

Publications team

On the Publications team, we are looking for copyeditors who are available to copyedit articles for the Journal. Email publications@e-tas.ch for the job description.

Ambassadors

We are also currently looking for ambassadors and members of the web team.

ETAS Ambassador is a new role that is the evolution of Regional Coordinators and SIG (Special Interest Group) Coordinators. ETAS Ambassadors can represent a city/canton or a particular area of interest. For example, our Bern, Zurich, Lausanne, Valais, and Ticino Ambassadors. Some organize discussion or social-professional activities in their areas. Others do this online. Our SIG Ambassadors often offer online workshops or present at national events. Others write newsletters and journal articles that keep interested members informed about their domain of expertise. Would you like to create a local group in your area? Do you want to share your expertise in a subject with the rest of us? There’s no limit on the number of Ambassadors that ETAS can have, so if you have something to share, please get in touch with our National Coordinator at national.coordinator@e-tas.ch to get all the details.

Do you have other skills or ideas? We are always looking for members who want to help English Language Teaching professionals in Switzerland connect, grow and thrive! Here are some things you might want to think about. For example, do you:

  • Enjoy organizing events and meeting new people? – Think about becoming an ETAS Ambassador. Contact our National Coordinator at national.coordinator@e-tas.ch
  • Enjoy sharing ideas and connecting people with similar interests in a particular field of education? – Think about becoming an ETAS Ambassador. Contact our National Coordinator at national.coordinator@e-tas.ch
  • Enjoy working from home and have an eye for detail and strong grammatical command? – Think about becoming a proofreader for the Journal. Contact our Publications Chair at publications@e-tas.ch
  • Enjoy working closely with vendors, socializing at events and having a short term responsibility? – Think about joining our events team. Contact our National Events Chair at national.events@e-tas.ch
  • Enjoy spending time online or on social media and would like to promote ETAS on a broad scale? – Think about joining the web team. Contact our Web Chair at web.chair@e-tas.ch or president@e-tas.ch
  • Enjoy writing or interviewing? – Think about writing an article or other piece for the Journal or website. Contact our Publications Chair at publications@e-tas.ch

Every one of us has something valuable to offer ETAS. We look forward to hearing from you!
