Part Time Teacher - to help develop children's English literacy skills

Part-time position - Starting in
Searching for a dynamic and experienced teacher to join the Links to Literacy team. Five hours teaching each Wednesday afternoon to teach phonics, reading and writing skills to three groups of kindergarten and primary aged children. The maximum class size is seven. The children are both native and non-native English speakers, and hence the aim is to help develop the children's English literacy skills. Links to Literacy was established in 2009 and there is a curriculum/resources in place but there is scope to help further develop/refine it - and add your own stamp. Excellent resources, reading books and teacher materials available. Support given when needed but independence is needed to manage the classes alone. The competitive salary is not only to reflect the professionalism expected but also the time to plan, set homework, and to communicate with parents. Looking for someone to join for the longer term. There is the possibility over time to increase the hours.

Qualified primary school teacher is preferred. However, other English teaching qualifications, together with relevant experience, will be considered. EDK recognition is not needed. Must be a English native speaker with sound written and oral communication skills.

Experience teaching synthetic phonics, reading and writing skills in the early years/primary classroom. Knowledge of children's reading schemes and reading assessments an advantage.
