Uploading files

We can access any kind of file now by making a link to the file. The process is a combination of making a link and inserting an inline image. If you've done these two things, then this will be easy:

  • Select some text which you would like to link to the file--"Download the slides from Rob Dean's presentation at PD Day in Sargans" for example--then click the Link tool (next to the buttons for creating numbered and bulleted lists).
  • In the Link tool, change the "Link type" to URL. A new button will appear: "Browse server". Click this button.
  • This is the same interface as when you upload an inline image. You will need to navigate to the correct folder before you upload your files. To use our previous example, we would put Rob Dean's slides in 04_documents > Events > PDDay > PDDay2015.
  • Once you have navigated to the appropriate folder, click the "Upload" button at the top left of the window. This will open a dialog box where you will locate the file on your PC. Click "Open" and then click the new "Upload" button, it's a little bit below the one you clicked the first time.
  • Now you should see your file in the window. Click "Insert File" and you will close the window and return to the Link tool.
  • Click OK in the Link tool. It will close and your link will now allow visitors to download or open your files.

I will walk you through the process in the video below:
