Alternatives for BEC: Cambridge Main Suite Exams

Classroom activities to develop writing skills at B2 and C1

In this seminar, we will explore in greater detail what is meant by B2 and C1-level writing skills through examining the ‘Can Do’ statements and considering how learners develop these skills. Presented by Jayne Kyte.

British Council Writing Skills Training Day - 9 November - Berne

The Training Day will have three sessions. The first will look at ways to develop confidence and interest in general writing among teenagers and young adults. There will then be two sessions focusing on the academic writing component of IELTS. The first will be an overview of Tasks 1 and 2 with some underlying principles involved in the testing process, followed by a workshop on appropriate strategies to improve students’ writing strategies as they prepare for the exam.

Developing and assessing writing skills at B2 and C1 - 5 April - Chur

Register now for the free teacher workshop in Chur on "Developing and assessing writing skills at B2 and C1".

In this practical workshop, teachers will establish and clarify the assessment scales that are applied to the writing component in Cambridge English: B2 First (FCE) and Cambridge English: C1 Advanced (CAE).

British Council: Student's writing and speaking skills - Bern, 16 December

On Saturday 16 December 2018 the BRITISH COUNCIL invites you to a free teacher training workshop in Bern, focused on how to prepare your students for an evaluation of their speaking and writing skills. The workshop will be of great interest to teachers preparing students for IELTS but equally exciting even if your students learn English without an exam in mind.

9-10 November - Bern - Cambridge English introductory seminar SEK I (for Schools Exams)

The Cambridge Introductory Seminar is designed to introduce teachers and principals as effectively as possible to the Cambridge English Examinations and their preparation in combination with Lehrplan 21 in one or two days. The aim of this introductory seminar is that the school and the teachers have the necessary knowledge to successfully prepare their students within the school structure for the Cambridge English exam.

British Council IELTS training day, 6 October 2018 in Bern

This British Council IELTS training day has four workshops. Each workshop focuses on teaching techniques for one of the four main skills in the academic version of IELTS to help students achieve high score bands. The workshops will be practical and concentrate specifically on skills acquisition, rather than a description of exam content, and will give participants tools for integrating exam preparation elements in their English lessons
