English Teachers Unite: Exploring the SIG Public School Community

Date: Tuesday 14 November 2023 at 19.30

Are you ready to connect, collaborate, and catalyze change within the Swiss public school English teaching community? Join us for the TTT session on “English teachers unite”, a gathering of passionate educators from all corners of Switzerland. Our goal is to bring together English teachers at all levels to initiate an enriching dialogue about the challenges and opportunities in public school education. In this interactive discussion round, our discussion leader Bettina Coppens will share her experiences, uncover common ground, and identify the burning issues that are shaping our classrooms today.

Our aim is to gather valuable insights to steer the direction of future discussion rounds and even plan expert-led workshops for upcoming ETAS events. By embracing teachers from various levels, we aspire to broaden our perspective, delving into the collective concerns of public-school English education and supporting you in mastering this wonderful profession. Join us, and together, let’s embark on a journey of knowledge-sharing and inspiration.

Discussion Leader:

Born and raised in Switzerland, Bettina studied English language and literature in Amsterdam and holds an MA in English Linguistics and a MA in Education (Teaching English). Since 2011, she has been back in Switzerland and teaches mainly English at Swiss public schools at the college or upper secondary school level. Alongside the mandatory curricula she successfully prepared many teenagers for the Cambridge language exams and enjoyed being a mentor teacher for many years.

Currently, she is teaching part-time to combine work with her other engagements with teacher associations, the Department of Education, Sport and Culture in Aargau as well as ETAS and her study in psychology.
