In an increasingly converging world, the ability to lead, manage and motivate appropriately across cultures will determine the success of international endeavours, whether business, political or social. To overcome the staggering variety of communication styles and facilitate successful outcomes, all parties need to recognize the importance of intercultural communication skills.

Teachers who diversify into this area of training can play a critical role in helping learners increase productivity in cross-border ventures, build stronger trusting relationships with business partners and deliver higher customer satisfaction, as well as improving the organization’s competitive standing.

This special interest group (SIG) will provide interested teachers with a platform to develop intercultural awareness and sensitivity. If desired, that platform will also allow them to undertake further training to better support their learners in situations of potential conflict – from meetings and presentations to sales negotiations and international team building. We would love to hear from our members about what content we could have here and about training needs.
