Welcome to ETAS Ticino!

Your Ticino Regional Coordinator

We strive to offer a mix of educational, informative and fun regional events throughout the year.  Past gatherings have included representatives from book publishers, workshops on classroom management and teaching styles, and casual networking aperitifs to share ideas with peers. We are always open to suggestions on future events.  Please contact us!

Nicole Jaks

I was born in Chicago, Illinois but grew up in Delaware, Connecticut, Texas, California, Arizona and São Paulo, Brazil. After graduating from UCLA with a BA in Geography and Environmental Science, I moved to Switzerland and settled in the sunny region of Ticino. In 2012, I completed a MEd in International Education with an ESL specialization. I’m currently working towards my teaching certificate for Swiss vocational schools at the EHB/IUFFP (Swiss Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training). I have been teaching English since 1997 and I have experience in teaching Geography in Italian at public middle schools in Ticino as well as "Chat and Cook" classes to English language learners. I currently teach EFL at SPSE Tenero (Commercial Professional School for Elite Athletes) and adult classes for the Canton. I’ve been an active member of ETAS since 2006 where I have held the position as regional coordinator for Ticino. In my free time, I’m a full-time hockey mom for my two sons, Aleksander (1999) and Krystian (2002).
