Hi ETAS members
I've just found this page on the eTAs website and would be keen to swap ideas with other teachers of teenagers. I teach at a Berufsschule. First week of school!

Hi Gaby

I teach at a special needs school for pupils with learning and behavioural issues (age 7-16). I've found the following film series particularly useful in motivating kids who otherwise sit with their heads on the desk and switch off! The plot hinges around two girls Bridget and Annie who live in a flat in London and whose neighbour Nick thinks he's nature's gift to women (i.e. cool). Then Bridget's former pen pal Hector arrives from Argentina with only a few basic phrases of English. Chaos and comedy follow and the kids are hooked!

The same storyline is also available in French, German, and Spanish but wth different actors. DVDs are available from WDR Television in Germany or VHS cassettes only from Swiss DRS.

We've had unprecendeted success with our SEN pupils who even managed to actually talk to locals when we organised a "Klassenlager" field trip to GB last summer.

What materials do you find useful for teenage learners?

Regards

Alan
