Learning Technology SIG
For L-Tech to be both an effective and efficient method of learning, learning agencies today must face the challenge of how to bridge the gap between personal interaction, cognitive understanding and computer literacy. The goal of the L-Tech SIG will be able to assist both teachers and institutions in achieving a greater understanding of how people learn and how this knowledge can be applied in creating effective CALL programmes.

I was born in America and came to Switzerland as an exchange student. Now, over 20 years later, I have a family with 3 boys and 2 cats.
Qualifications and Experience
I've been in the language business for 15 years, starting with the difficult job of German as a foreign language and then moving back onto the solid ground of English. After several private language schools, I now prepare teachers and student teachers for the CAE.
First, I did the CTEFLA and then got my M.Ed. from the University of Manchester. The last course I took, which was to have great reverberations (such as me becoming this SIG head!), was a course about online learning.
Special Interest Areas
My experience and contact with people from all over the world (beginning with the online course) have changed the way I feel about technology in language learning. I am interested in using the internet to provide real communication with others and practice in all skills, including listening and speaking. As head of this group I hope to be able to share my experience and enthusiasm for this area of learning and to continue to learn from and with others.
