Steve Lander is British and first came to Switzerland in 1981. He has been a member of ETAS for over 20 years, and was RC for the Basel region from 1993 - 2001.
Qualifications and Experience
Educated in the UK, ending up with a PhD in English Language and Linguistics (sociolinguistics and second language learning). He has taught EFL in the UK and Spain as well as Switzerland. He has worked for Ciba-Geigy/Novartis since 1988, initially as a translator, then in electronic document management, and more recently in the Share Registry and Board Secretariat.
Steve also used to organise language courses in Ciba-Geigy/Novartis on behalf of the GGG in Basel, and continues to teach English as a Foreign Language part-time.
Special Interest Areas
As well as teaching ideas and techniques, Steve is interested in linguistics, intercultural studies, and information technology. He has been a member of the Basel Linux User Group for a number of years.
Leisure-time pursuits include cooking, cycling, and walking.
